Wow! What a year. Who could have guessed that in our current economic climate AFT would have such a wonderful summer and fall? We’ll be honest with you; we planned conservatively with the numbers and kept our expectations in check when we were putting things in place for this past season. We’ve always run a pretty tight ship and this year we were determined to keep it that way.
Even so, we weren’t putting our dreams or our mission on hold. The truth is, we had planned one of our most artistically ambitious seasons ever with three world premieres:
We threw Peninsula State Park a party for turning 100 and you joined in by making Sunsets & S’mores one of our most successful concert shows ever.
We celebrated all things Wisconsin while tackling current issues in Cheeseheads, the Musical and you stood with us and cheered.
We invited you “Up Nort’’” to the Guys & Does cabin and so many of you came that we had to pull out the extra chairs.
When people ask why AFT had a good year, we think the answer is right at hand: We have a pact with you. We provide quality productions at an affordable price and you loyally support us. You tell us over and over what a good value our shows are and how wonderful it is to have something to do that is appropriate and affordable for the whole family and like nothing you can get anywhere else. How can you beat that?
We’re determined to keep our end of the bargain, but we need your help. We have made it part of our mission to keep our ticket prices low so families can continue to make AFT part of their Door County tradition, but that means our ticket prices don’t cover the costs for creating the shows you enjoy.
If you believe AFT offers something unique, now’s your chance to give back. Won’t you please consider making a tax-deductible donation and keep the pact going?
See you under the stars!

AFT holds to its mission of providing original musical works appropriate to people of all ages. We do this while promising to keep our ticket prices affordable. In 2008 our average price for a summer evening performance was just $12 per ticket - truly a bargain for professional theatre.
This can be a challenge for a professional theater with professional theatre expenses. Therefore we must rely on philanthropic support to keep performances moderately prices. In addition to financial contributions, we have over 180 community volunteers who assist the organization throughout the year.
Support excellence in the performing arts by donating to American Folklore Theatre. Your charitable gift qualifies as a tax deduction, as allowed by the IRS.
Company Match
Many companies will match their employees' donations to non-profit organizations. if your employer participates, please contact them and let them know you would like them to match your donations to AFT. They will have some paperwork for you to complete.
Fred Alley New Musical Fund
AFT produces original musical works. A new show can take three years of writing and workshopping before it is ready for production. AFT needs to provide for our authors and directors with financial resources and time to continue bringing you the excellent shows that have become a standard for AFT. To this point we have provided minimal funds for New Works. Our goal is to have monies set aside for the writing and workshopping of New Works. For more information please visit the Fred Alley New Musical Fund page.
